What is Walt Disney World like during the Holiday Season?

There is a great feeling being at Walt Disney World on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  While there are a lot of people, it really does not get to crazy and everyone really enjoys the decorations and seeing the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lightsor seeing any of the holiday parades at any of the parks.

Family Traditions

Everyone has traditions when it comes to the Holidays.  You spend part of the day with one set of in-laws and then the other and then any other family members.   About six years ago, we decided that we were going to spend the holidays with a new family tradition, spending it at Walt Disney World. Our new Christmas traditions now include dinner at a resort we have not stayed at before and then a relaxing evening strolling around the resort and taking in all the decorations.

This year, Christmas Eve dinner will be at Boma’sat the Animal Kingdom lodge, and we will spend the rest of the evening enjoying the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  On Christmas Day, we will be enjoying dinner at Whispering Canyonand then we set foot inside Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for the first time and see their decorations!

Additionally, this year, we are going to see the Holidays around the World Candlelight Processionalfor the first time and hear Susan Lucci retell the stirring story of Christmas.

I love to spend the holidays at EPCOT and check out each of the international holiday story tellers – whether it’s Mexico to hear about The Three Kings and their journey to the Posada, or France’s Pere Noel or seeing Santa and Mrs. Clause at the American Adventure.  Hopefully we will be also able to catch the Holiday version of Reflections of Earth.

Finally, the best thing about spending the holidays at Walt Disney World is the memories that are created – my parents and my kids love looking at the pictures of past trips and love recalling what they did each day of their vacation – it’s just that easy!

Happy Holidays and see you next year!
