What is the chance that there was no intelligent design?

When you look out into the universe and inward at your own amazingly complex self, do you wonder how you and everything else got here?

Infinite Intelligence and intelligent design are not religious concepts. Infinite Intelligence is a spiritualist concept that does not attempt to define nature of the Creator of All That Is. A belief in intelligent intelligence does not require belief in a conventional God, of which there are as many versions as there are religions.

Intelligent design asserts that the wonders of the Universe that we observe today did not happen by chance over some unknown and very large period of time. There was an Infinite Intelligence that guided the creation, and that Infinite Intelligence continues the creation process today. The source of the Infinite Intelligence is unknown and unknowable, as is the source of the energy that was used to create all of the Universe and its contents.

The Biblical version of the creation of mankind has a major problem in that it requires Adam and Eve’s offspring to marry each other to continue expanding the human race. The Bible says that God created Heaven and earth. Spiritualism says that there is an Infinite Intelligence that directed the creation of All That Is, but nothing is known about the nature of this Infinite Intelligence.

Modern science keeps trying to understand the moments just after the “big bang”. The Big Bang is a fun TV show, but it is goofy science. Physics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. Einstein established that everything is energy, i.e. e=mc2. So, what was the state of the energy before the alleged “big bang” event? Physicists insist “What happened before the Big Bang?” is not a legitimate question. It is a legitimate question that science cannot answer. At best, the big bang theory postulates an event that does not explain how the event occurred.

Evolution ultimately rests on the premise that everything that happened after the big bang has somehow developed into the Universe that we have today. This includes the cosmos, the Milky Way, our solar system, and finally the Earth and all of the plants, animals and people.

Physics teaches that systems increase in entropy over time, and that this increase is evidenced by increasing disorder and randomness. The evolution theory that begins with the big bang assumes a self-organizing universe. Science says that closed systems become more random and have less available energy over time. Since the big bang claims to cover all of the creation, it is a closed system. All That Is includes everything.

It could be argued that not knowing the source of All That Is does not prove an infinite intelligence was organizing the process of creation. Given that new galaxies are constantly being discovered, as well as new “black holes”, it would seem that the big bang was not the end of the creation story, if the big bang actually happened. What we do know is that we are here, and we don’t really know how any of it happened.

As the battle goes on in schools as to whether to include creationism as an alternative to evolution, it is suggested that we include the alternative of the mystical intelligent design. Intelligent design can be summarized in the following brief points.

1. We know that everything is made up of energy, and we don’t know the source of the energy that became All That Is. All That Is exists in defiance of the law of physics that says energy cannot be created or destroyed.
2. We know that things change over time, but it takes intelligence to organize simple things into more complex things.
3. Evolution does not explain how the first living life forms were created and science cannot duplicate the creation of a living cell from raw chemicals and energy.
4. In conclusion, how All That Is came into existence is unknown and unknowable, but we didn’t get here through chance events over an incredibly long time. There is an infinite intelligence that directs All That Is.

The best advice to spiritual beings is to” be here now”. Use the moments of your life to find and fulfill your spiritual purpose. You are here for a reason, and that reason is to be the best human you can be. There are many things that are beyond human comprehension, including how we came into being. Accept our existence as an unknowable mystery, and be grateful for the Universe that surrounds us with magnificent examples of the beauty of the creation.
