What is the best part of being a championship breeder?

Having championship puppies, of course! This article has been delayed because the Portuguese stork has yet to visit Porto Novo kennels in Old Saybrook, Ct. Porto Novo is the home of the original registered Portuguese Podengo Pequeno in America. The Portuguese Podengo Pequeno was just accepted by the American Kennel Club in 2014.

According to his name on his Certificado de Registrado Definitivo (of the) Clube Portugues de Canicultura, “Chinook” paid a visit from Portugal in March. He stayed a week, mating with Hestia de Vedras, better known as “Izzy.”

According to championship breeder and Podengo pioneer Marilyn Piurek, five pups were hoped for; three were confirmed by X-ray. This is definitely a royal birth as Chinook is the top dog in Portugal and Izzy’s pedigree is just as dazzling. But Izzy was supposed to have her pups days ago. At this rate, one has to be reminded of patience…and one wonders, is the father pacing in Portugal?
