Anyone who eats frozen pizza knows they aren’t all created the same. Quality of texture and taste vary greatly. According to a Feb. 7 Yahoo! Shopping report, Good Housekeeping did an investigation to find the best frozen pies on the market.
There were three categories: veggie, cheese and pepperoni. Tombstone extra cheese pizza won the cheese category. It was praised for its “ooey” cheese and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside crust. Amy’s, Stouffer’s French bread and California Pizza Kitchen’s crispy then margherita pizzas also received good marks in the cheese category.
In the pepperoni category, DiGiorno took top honors from the editors. Tombstone and Target’s Market Pantry brand were runners-up. There were complaints about the dough of the Market Pantry pie, but tasters loved the cheese and pepperoni.
Amy’s roasted vegetable pizza was the overall winner in the veggie category. DiGiorno Crispy Flatbread with roasted peppers, tomato and spinach was a close second. Newman’s own roasted vegetable also scored well.
