"American Horror Story: Freak Show" is the fourth installment in the franchise. Even though it is going to be a while before any major spoilers come out, there is some information available now. On April 28, Enstarz posted some tidbits on the show and what fans can expect when it airs.
The fourth season will be set in Jupiter, Fla. during the 1950s. Jessica Lange, who has been practicing her German accent, will be playing an ex-pat running one of the last freak shows in America. Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett are among her "freaks" and it was reported that Lange "rescued" a few of the characters. During the course of the season, Lange and the other characters will do anything to keep the business going. It should be interesting to find out just how far they will go to keep the freak show alive.
Denis O'Hare will be returning to "American Horror Story: Freak Show" and he gave a little information on his character. He told Vulture that he will not be playing a freak himself, but rather a collector of freaks. His character will be at odds with Jessica Lange in the show.
Michael Chiklis, most recognizable from "The Shield," will also be coming to "AHS." He will be the ex-husband of Kathy Bates' character and the father of Evan Peters. Very little else has been revealed about his character.
Besides the ones listed above, others that will be appearing on the "American Horror Story: Freak Show" set include Frances Conroy, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Jamie Brewer. Also confirmed to appear are Lily Rabe, Naomi Grossman and Alexandra Breckinridge. Of course, Peters and Bates will also be coming back.
Creator Ryan Murphy has said that the upcoming season will have more gothic horror and have a similar tone to "Coven." There were rumors recently that season 4 would be the final for "American Horror Story," but Murphy quickly shot down those rumors. As for when "American Horror Story: Freak Show" will premiere on FX, there is no set date yet. However, it is planned on airing sometime in fall 2014.
