Eccentric actor Crispin Glover, star of the 2007 horror flick The Wizard of Gore and the 2003 remake of Willard, turned his hand to writing and direction with his 2005 feature film What Is It? He also co-directed with David Brothers the 2007 It Is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE. and he’s coming to Sun-Ray Cinema in Riverside to show them both to Jacksonville.
On February 18 at 7:30 p.m. Glover is set to present his "Big Slide Show Part 2," followed by the screening of It Is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE. On February 19 at 7:30 p.m. Glover will present his "Big Slide Show Part 1," followed by the screening of What Is It? Both nights will end with Q and A and book signing.
According to Glover’s website the "Big Slide Show" is “a one hour dramatic narration of eight different profusely illustrated books he has made over the years.”
Matt Soergel, movie reviewer for The Florida-Times Union, in his January 13, 2012, blog “Jack Yacks” quotes the San Francisco Examiner’s description of What Is It? as “scenes with naked women in elephant masks, Shirley Temple, Glover being lowered deus-ex-machina style into a Maxfield Parrish scene … It’s like Fellini on psychedelics -- wildly creative but completely twisted.”
Imdb.com describes It Is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE. as “an autobiographical, psycho-sexual, fantastical retelling of Steven C. Stewart point-of-view of life.” According to Glover’s website, he wanted to produce the film since he read screenwriter and star Stewart’s script in the ‘80s. Sadly, Stewart, who suffered from cerebral palsy, died before the film was complete.
