Before defining esoteric astrology, we have to mention that esoteric astrologers’ studies are concerned with the purposes of the Soul (as opposed to exoteric astrologers who study the body, the exterior).
We hear often that astrology isn’t a science, but irrespective of its being or not a science, astrology surely is the purest presentation of occult truth in the world at this time. This is due to the fact that it deals with those energies and forces which influence and impact the whole universe.
Nowadays, astrology practitioners put themselves at the center of life on Earth (they are important beings, living on an important planet, and through astrology he or she can discover his or her purpose, destiny, fate). Modern astrological interpretations fail to fully grasp the importance of the Ascendant, and this is the result of us being unprepared to ‘function’ as Souls.
In order to have a clearer, more accurate perception of reality, we need to increase our awareness as a whole; humanity has to reach a higher level of consciousness before being able to shift its focus from the individual (a self-centered view) and on to the Soul (inclusive, group conscious).
Therefore, esoteric astrology deals with life and with the life force which informs the points of light within the Universal Life. Everything that we can see around us – planets, constellations, microscopic organisms, etc. – is the result of this activity of the life force and the manifestation of its energy.
Esoteric astrologers share a set of beliefs and attitudes: that the planetary influences are an indicator of the outer life circumstances (fate, destiny); that the Sun Sign indicates the nature of the man on all levels (physical, mental, and spiritual); that the Rising Sign (the Ascendant) provide insight into remoter possibilities, and also is clarifies the spiritual purpose of the immediate incarnation and of the immediate succeeding incarnations.
