What Ingredients Really Should Be Inside Your Eye Cream?

See also

The skin around your eyes is sensitive and delicate, and the ingredients in your eye cream really does matter. Eye creams are different than regular facial moisturizers since they target the specific problems that occur around the eyes. The creams tend to be thicker and can address other problems such as dark circles and puffiness, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. To help correct these problems on the sensitive under eye skin, it is important to know what is in your eye cream.

Common Ingredients:

Eye creams generally contain two key ingredients to help moisturize the skin and to fill in fine lines. Emollients help to smooth the under eye skin and can help to fill in tiny lines and creases, while the other key ingredient are humectants. These, like glycerin, help to moisturize the skin, giving it a healthy glow.

1.) Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3 is a small protein that helps to promote collagen production in the skin cells. As we age, collagen production slows down causing fine lines and wrinkles to appear. Skin will also begin to loose it's elasticity. Eye creams containing this peptide can help to minimize fine lines and help to firm loose skin.

2.) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 is a synthetic peptide that is used in anti-aging eye creams. One of the key ingredients in Maytrixyl-3000, it helps to stimulate the cells natural production of collagen and other proteins. This peptide can also help to correct dark under eye circles.

3.) Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 is another synthetic peptide commonly found in eye creams. While this peptide also helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, it can also help to reshape sagging skin around the corners of the eyes. By slowing down the contractions of the facial muscles, it is also harder for new wrinkles to form around the eyes.

4.) Palmitoyl Oligopeptide is often used together with Maytrixyl-3000 in many anti-aging moisturizing eye creams. This peptide helps to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and can also help with thinning skin which can occur as we grow older. Over time, this peptide can help skin replace lost collagen and thicken the skin.

5.) Maytrixyl-3000 is created by blending two peptides together, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 and palmitoyl oligopeptide, to make an improved anti-aging peptide. Eye creams containing this advanced peptide can fight all of the signs of aging around the eyes.

Ingredients Matter:

Your eye area is extremely sensitive and the skin is very delicate. The ingredients in your eye cream should do more for your eyes than simply moisturize. Synthetic peptides and combinations of them are key ways in which you can successfully fight all of the signs of aging. Other common ingredients in eye creams often include Retinol-A, which helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, but can be harsh on delicate skin. For women who have extremely sensitive skin, it is best to try a test sample in case of an allergic reaction.

Other common ingredients in eye creams can include,

1) Caffeine which can help reduce the appearance of under eye bags and puffiness.

2) Vitamin C which can also help boost collagen production in the skin cells.

3) Calendula is also used to reduce puffiness and under eye fluid retention.

When it comes to eye creams, ingredients really do matter. Your eyes are one of the facial features that people notice most, and keeping that skin looking it's best is important. Eye creams should not only moisturize and help slow down the signs of aging, it should do so safely. While no eye cream will ever completely turn back the aging process, using the right cream can slow it down. Knowing which ingredients target which problems can help you to always look your best, with fresh healthy glowing skin.
