Every day presents a new opportunity to show the one you love just how much he or she means to you. Aside from the typical things you do — such as laundry or taking care of the car — that your spouse most likely takes for granted, you can be on the lookout for new, creative ways to show the one you love that he or she is special to you.
You may be thinking, “I don’t have time for that.” But really, how much time does it take to do a little something to show affection? Maybe it’s an unexpected kiss on the head that says “I love you,” or greeting your loved one at the door with a cheery smile on your face. That can go a long way toward setting the atmosphere for the evening, especially if your spouse had a tough day at work. You could send an email or text message to let your spouse know you’re thinking about him or her. None of those takes much time or thought, yet their message can have a lasting impact.
Things that take a little more time and thought include sending an e-card, preparing your spouse’s favorite meal for dinner, freeing up your schedule to meet your spouse for lunch, or giving your spouse a night off from his or her normal duties around the house. Myriad other possibilities abound, limited only by your imagination. Think about what would make you feel appreciated by your spouse, and then do that for your spouse.
My husband brought me coffee in bed this morning before leaving for work. It was a simple gesture, but it meant a lot to me.
Take a little time to show your spouse today and each new day how much he or she means to you. Those little things during your courtship days kept warm fuzzies flowing between the two of you. There’s no reason that can’t continue throughout your marriage.
