What foods to buy organic

Buying organic is a life choice that has a plethora of benefits. Conventional farmers tend to use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, antibiotics, and growth hormones to truly ‘create’ the best possible yields on their farms. Unfortunately, these unnatural products can cause harm to your family.

Buying organic can help your family avoid unwanted harmful effects such as brain and nervous system toxicity. More information can be found in the article Why you should buy organic.

Buying organic food can help fortify a person’s health by eliminating exposure to harmful pesticides. Unfortunately, organic food can be costly, which can cause a strain in this deteriorating economy.

Focusing your attention on purchasing produce that has been determined to have high pesticide levels among conventional farmers is one way to save money.

The following foods have been identified as being high in pesticide residue. You should consider purchasing these organically.

  • Berries
  • Leafy greens
  • Peaches and nectarines
  • Apples
  • Celery and carrots
  • Grapes
  • Bell peppers
  • Cucumbers

When you eat the entire fruit you are more likely to be exposed to pesticides. Fruit that you peel the skin before eating helps to reduce your pesticide exposure.

Other products that you should consider buying organic in order to avoid harmful hormones and antibiotics include poultry, beef, and dairy products.
