One of the most important ways a cyclist can protect themselves from injury is by wearing a helmet whenever they ride a bicycle.
Always look for a label on the helmet that indicated it has been approved by the American Standards Institute.
Choosing the color is also important. White, orange, red and yellow are the top color choices because they provide the most visibility to others driving near the cyclist.
Be sure the helmet is securely attached under the chin using the nylon strap attached to it. Adjust the strap so it fits snuggly but not too tight. Too loose of a strap is dangerous for the helmet may wobble or slip down over your eyes making the riders visibility less and making them remove a hand from the handle bars to push it back which can make the cyclist swerve unexpectedly.
Always select a helmet for its size, shape, color and standards as well as getting one that feels right on your head.
