Organization is not as hard as it sounds, especially with the right tools and storage space. Keeping your fishing gear in great working order and more than anything else, easy to get to is important. An organized fishing boat is a safe fishing boat.
There are hoards of storage boxes, keepers, c-clamps, magnetic, grab bars and cargo nets on the market and bins for your boat, buy them, use them. If you do not have these items for storage, now is the time to let the ones that love you, know that you need for them for Christmas.
If you have been fishing this past fall and summer, you know what was impossible or tricky to get to while you were out on the water. The key to good storage is it must be easy to grab and just as easy to put back.
First, if you know it is broken, lures, rods, you name it and you are not going to fix it or ca not fix it, toss it out or pass it on to a child or someone who will. Do not waste your time on items that you just can't use on the boat or will impede your happy angling.
Ziploc baggies are a must for the items you take on the boat, I've never been on my boat with out them or any one elses for that matter. Quit stealing a couple baggies, at a time, from your kitchen and get a whole box just for your items on the boat.
Label or marker what is in every box or bag if your boxes are not clear.
Fishing rods, how may can you actually use at one time or is legal to use at one time. Keep your rods in their place, in storage or clamped down on the boat. I do not want to tell you how many rods I have lost, thinking things were in place and accidently nudging one in the water.
