People use human reasoning to do what they want to do and justify it.
On one website the author says:
"Christmas trees, holiday lights, Santa, decorations are all part of the Christmas celebration, but should Christians take part?"
“Given the large amount of arguments that everything to do with the Christmas season is pagan in origin, and has no Christian meaning (including the word "Christ-Mass"), Christmas is bad. It is a time of year to overspend, participate in festive parties and games, sing carols to worship unknown gods and goddesses, hang decorations to worship, and even eat foods that were part of the pagan festivals.”
Yet, the author still encourages Christians to celebrate it because she says it is celebrating Christ!
And many get sick or suffer heart attacks because of stress, lack of sleep and eating the wrong foods as Pat Anthony, another examiner, writes in her article.
It seems that ham is always the meat of choice during these days and yet God tells us in the scriptures that swine is unclean.
- Leviticus 11:7: “And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.” (ESV)
But what do people do? They always do what they want to do and always did and God punished them for it.
- Isaiah 65:2: "All day long I stood ready to accept those who turned against me. But they kept doing whatever they wanted to do, and all they did was wrong.”
- Verse 3: “They keep doing things, right in front of me, that make me angry. They offer sacrifices and burn incense in their special gardens.”
- Verse 4: “They sit among the graves, waiting to get messages from the dead. They eat the meat of pigs, and their pots are full of soup made from unclean meat.” (ERV)
- Isaiah 66:17: "Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one in the midst, eating pig's flesh and the abomination and mice, shall come to an end together, declares the LORD.”
If people want to celebrate and make merry during this time of year, set up their decorations and ornaments, give gifts and do all of the good things they want to do and wish people happy, merry holidays; some think it would be a good thing, but should they include God and say they are celebrating the birth of Christ and honoring Him? Is it really honoring Christ or is it taking pagan worship practices and attaching them to their worship of God?
All Christians love God but what does God say in His Word?
- Romans 10:2-3:“For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.”
