What do Cedric Mixon, Spike Lee and Tyler Perry have in common?

Three renassaince men are the creators of films that influence change in American communities. All over the United States, Walmart has positioned a new inspirational film, Cedric Mixon's “Under the Cherry Tree” next to Spike Lee’s “Red Hook Summer”. Nearby, you’ll find Tyler Perry’s Madea line of films. This reflects a movement across the country where families are demanding more socially responsible forms of entertainment and an inspirational movie that’s not afraid to push the envelope on its message of faith in God.

“Our situation is unique in that we are a complete independent operation, meaning that we write, produce and direct our own films. We fund them ourselves, so that allows us the opportunity to create exactly the movie that we want people to see. We don’t have outside forces trying to influence us to water-down our message,” says Cedric Mixon, writer, director and producer of “Under the Cherry Tree”.

“Maverick is excited to work with Cedric Mixon, who like Tyler Perry, is a triple threat talent; writer, director and producer. His film and book, “Under the Cherry Tree” will serve an underserved niche in the inspirational category but also has broad appeal to all moviegoers in that it focuses on today's family issues,” Doug Schwab, President and Founder of Maverick Entertainment Group noted.

“Under the Cherry Tree”, the DVD is available in Walmart stores nationwide as of January 15th, 2013. The two stores in Atlanta are: Walmart, 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Rd., Atlanta, GA 30338 & Walmart, 2427 Gresham Rd Se, Atlanta, GA 30316 and 71 other stores in the surrounding areas of Georgia.

The novel is available on Amazon.com as well.
