What do you pack when you travel with God? Part one of three

A Daily Word from the Word for Tuesday, January 21, 2014

“And He [Jesus] said to them, ‘Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.’” – Luke 9:3

How do you pack when you are making a trip, my brother? What do you put in your suitcase, my sister? We tend to pack our bags with worldly things when we take our worldly trips; whether business or pleasure; and there is nothing wrong with this. However, when God sends you on an assignment, do you still pack your bags with the things of this world, or do you allow God to determine what you should bring, and leave your agenda up to God?

I am not just talking about the physical things, but also what you pack mentally, emotionally, and physically. Do you pack your mind with the Word of God? Does the Father call you to a fast prior to your departure? What about your items of prayer, worship, and spiritual warfare? This is a trip where it is best to leave your pre-conceived notions in the closet.

When Jesus sent His disciples on assignment, He said “take nothing.” Was He saying not to use common sense? Of course not! Some people want to force God’s hand by doing something that God did not instruct them to do, and then have the nerve to get mad at God when they find themselves without. And sometimes, folks will go where they are not sent, and then have the audacity to get indignant with God. Now, I know that has never been you or me, my brother and sister :-). My point here is, if you are obedient to do what God has called you to do and your assignment is truly from the Father, then He will supply everything you need for your journey—both naturally and supernaturally. He will make a way, including making a way out of no way.

The Greek word for “said” as used in this verse is epo (pr. ep-o), which means “to speak or say by word or writing, bring word, command, grant” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). God cannot use anyone unless they have His Word written in their heart; and furthermore, unless God’s Word is firmly planted within their inner being. Jesus is the Word of God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” (John 1:1-5).

God’s assignment for any of us will always be to bring forth His Word, Who is Jesus Christ. Therefore, Jesus is your traveling companion—always, 24/7; whether you are on assignment or not. And guess what? If you are a true son or daughter of the Most High King, you are always on assignment! This being said, do you listen for your Father’s voice, by His Holy Spirit, each day? Do you call in your Divine Assignments, Divine Appointments, Divine Breakthroughs, and Divine Opportunities each morning? God has already prepared and packaged them for you in the spiritual realm; but you need to unwrap them, activate them, and call them in to the natural realm each and every day.

I am going to lay something else on you: do you ask God what you should wear? “Whoa, Brother Matt, aren’t you getting kinda radical here?” My brothers and sisters, if you truly want to walk in the supernatural, you need to be radical! Your need to activate, exercise, and move in that radical faith! You need to walk in that mountain-moving, miracle-producing, demon-slaying, life-transforming, crazy, mind-blowing, wouldn’t have it another way, faith! Look folks, I want to represent my Daddy right! And when I introduce people to the Living God, I want them to be blown away! Because that is the God we serve! Don’t show me some weak, dead, impotent, feeble god; because that is not the God I serve!

Sometimes, God will have me wear a certain color tie, because he has already told the person that I am supposed to meet, what color tie that I am wearing. This person that I am meeting with may not even realize that it was God giving them this information! God does this so the person that God is about to minister to, through me, knows that I am the real deal, because of the Real God, who lives in me, and qualifies me to be His real deal.

Folks are tired of meeting fakes and phonies, of being lied to, conned with gimmicks, and taken advantage of. They hunger, thirst, long for, and need an encounter with a genuine man and woman of God who is going to introduce them to the Ancient of Days—the God Who was, and is, and is to come; the God Who is the same yesterday, today, and forever; the One, who can and will do a new thing in them and in their life (Daniel 7:22, Revelation 1:8, Hebrews 13:8, Isaiah 43:19).

Are you tired of being let down, my brother? Are you tired of being lied to, my sister? Then allow me to introduce you to Someone who will literally change your life, if you let Him. His name is Jesus, and He is the Hope of the world (Matthew 12:21). Are you ready? He’s been waiting for you. I’ll go get Him.

Join me tomorrow and the next day, at our usual, but most unusual but highly anointed place, where humanity meets Divinity, to continue our journey through this three-part revelation; brought to you by the Real Deal Himself: the Father of all fathers. I almost forgot, leave your suitcase at home.

Father, thank You for taking us on a journey to a more intimate place in You. Most Holy God, help us to shed the world’s ways, and the world’s baggage, so that we can be completely caught up in You. Help us to focus more on You; and as we do, the world and its ways slowly fade into the background. In Jesus Name, we thank You that we travel light because we travel with You. Amen and Amen.

Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to travel on assignment daily with your Heavenly Father seeking Him as your true source and true revelation. Choose to be impressed by God and not by people. Get in the habit of seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). And continue to fight the good fight of being kingdom-bound; for God, your Ultimate Tour Guide, has already given you the victory!

If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!

God tells us that we are blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). Be a blessing to someone by sending them this word of encouragement. If God did not already put someone in your spirit and on your heart that needs to read this uplifting message from above, simply ask your Heavenly Father who to bless on today. Forward this message right now by email, facebook, or twitter.

Jesus is coming soon!

May God Bless you and keep you always.

With warmest regards,

And, in service of The Most High King,

Matthew
