What difference does it make?

Yesterday, Hillary Clinton was questioned by Ron Johnson about the Obama administration's cover-up of the Benghazi attack of 9/11. Apparently, she didn't think it was a relevant question to ask why the administration didn't know what triggered the terrorist attacks. Here's Hillary's response to Sen. Johnson's question:

The fact is that we had 4 dead Americans. Was it because of a protest? Or was it because of guys out for a walk that decided they'd go out and kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?

The point is to expose the fact that this administration knew it was a terrorist attack almost immediately and, rather than telling the truth, lied to the American people because they were selling a campaign narrative that al-Qa'ida was, for all intents and purposes, dead.

The point of these hearing should've been to expose the fact that this administration lied to the American people. People died, then this administration lied. They lied because they feared the distinct possibility that a failure of this magnitude would sink President Obama's re-election chances.

The other point that's worth noting is that Hillary went along with the cover-up because she's worried about maintaining her viability for running for president in 2016. Doing what's right and telling the truth weren't priorities for her.

During the Senate hearing, Hillary said that she took responsibility for the attacks, then essentially saying that she didn't hear about a number of the cables Christopher Stevens sent.

If Hillary Clinton was an honorable person, which she isn't, she would've resigned the minute she knew with certainty that she'd failed to protect Christopher Stevens and the other Americans that needlessly got killed because she failed to act.

The important storyline from yesterday was that Hillary tried pretending that this administration didn't cover up a deadly terrorist attack because it didn't fit their campaign's theme that al-Qa'ida had been decimated.

Remember Joe Biden's speech at the Democratic National Convention saying "Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive." Remember John Kerry at the Democratic National Convention saying "Ask Osama bin Laden if he's better off now than he was 4 years ago."

Rather than doing the right thing, this administration lied to protect their political viability. That's the disgusting truth.
