Prince William and wife Kate seem to have been with us for a thousand years, but, in fact, they've only been married for three, and that's as of today. And now Kate has been given an anniversary gift, says the UK's Daily Mail.
The news source reports that Wills gave his wife a Cartier watch that cost the prince over $6,000. The watch is embedded with a beautiful sapphire, and that matches quite nicely with Kate's engagement ring.
Newser.com says that Wills gave it to Kate before the couple set off on their three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand. Kate wore it every day they were away
"Such a lovely couple, I enjoy hearing news about them," says San Francisco resident, Alice Marshall.
The watch has another link to Princess Diana (the first owner of Kate's ring): Di also wore a Cartier watch while she was alive, and once had one engraved for Prince William for his birthday.
In addition, the queen "is encouraging Kate to build up her own collection of Cartier items," the Mail reports.
As for how the royal couple is celebrating their anniversary, reports are that they're doing so "privately," according to the Daily Beast; while the UK's Mirror says they're likely to spend time with Kate's family.
The royal couple were not together for their second anniversary, with William on duty as an RAF pilot on the day of the couple's wedding anniversary.
