Ann Coulter never fails to either entertain or offend with her views, and her openly callous way of presenting them, but some of her latest comments are rather perplexing. On March 27, 2013, the author of Mugged commented on Twitter in response to someone's very open question on the use of anti-gay slurs.
"Why is it ok to write out the whole word fa**ot, but not the other?" tweeted one user in regards to the N word.
Ann Coulter responded with the cryptic but oddly racist seeming tweet:
"Bc of what Dems did to blacks in this country."
What on earth is Ann talking about now? I reached out to her, of course not confident that she'll respond, but it would be nice to know what exactly she meant by such a statement. She's not really the type to dwell on what others think of what she says, so it's unlikely any such clarification will arise.
Ann Coulter, being no stranger to controversy, is also no stranger to being accused of racism. This site shares an abundant list of presumed racist quotes spoken by the Fox News darling. In recent reports Coulter has been targeted by angry parents of children with Down's Syndrome, for her use of the word "retard," but even I defended her. That's because the First Amendment protects free speech for all Americans whether their words are popular or not. Nonetheless, it's difficult to understand her thought processes when she makes such strange public statements.
What do you think Ann meant when she tweeted about what "Dems did to the blacks in this country." Does that make any sense to you? It could be speculated that she's referring to what some ultra conservatives refer to as "creating dependency with the welfare state and civil rights," but this argument is one that is not only socially unacceptable, but just factually wrong.
