What DC Actors can learn from "Acting for a Living"

Happy Friday everybody! There is a book I want you to check out, it's called "Acting for a Living: How to Act Outside Hollywood".

The following passage is worth the price of the book. It's advice I take to heart as a peformer:

"Write something. It could be a screenplay, sketch comedy, stand-up routine, anything. Write it with yourself in mind and use it as a vehicle to further your career. If you don't know what to write, ask yourself what your dream role would be. Think big.

Do not go to Hollywood hoping to be discovered. You want to go there first and foremost with the intention of getting your project off the ground. Your acting career should be secondary....

Nobody in Hollywood wants to meet another lazy, unemployed, wannnabe actor. Everybody in Hollywood wants to meet a person who is writing, producting and/or directing a great new project that might have something in it for them, remember that."
