Fox News reported Wednesday on the tragic killing of a father in a home invasion in Miami. Two goons had invaded the home and, according to the report, killed him when he intervened as they attempted to go into his daughter's room. Fellow MJM brought this one to my attention.
That dad, as heroic as he was, will never get the chance to see his daughter grow up, see his grandchildren, or love on his wife again. Now, the question for you is, what will you do in case of Barbarians at your gate?
Home invasions happen here, too, as the News-Sentinel reports. The victim suffered minor cuts, not to mention great emotional trauma.
Each day we all make choices, not all of them good. Today, I suggest that by not considering the need for armed defense of self and family, you are making a choice. Is it a good choice?
These choices have consequences. If you choose to become part of the armed community, you will need to be proactive in not letting little ones have access to your gun. Yet, for it to do any good, it must be loaded and available. There are little vaults which will facilitate that. Then you really need training with the gun. Can you drive a straight shift? You can learn to handle a gun.
Choosing not to become part of the armed community comes with its consequences, too. If the home invaders come, you are at their complete mercy. You and your wife. You and your children.
Are you an avowed pacifist?* If so, I suggest you discuss this with your spouse and children, and let them know that, when the balloon goes up, they are on their own. Really?
If you think a knife or bat will do, then I suggest you do more study.
There is an old saying, "Failing to plan is planning to fail."
What are your plans? What are you going to do?

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 22:3 (NLT)
