Wendy's has a lot of things going on under the radar: breakfast, some expanded opening hours, new sandwiches.
Breakfast: this is not widely available. According to their searchable website, the nearest Wendy's I could find to Baltimore serving breakfast was Oxen Hill, Maryland. Even then, I couldn't confirm it calling them on the phone. I searched DC, Boston, Miami, NYC . . . no such luck. I tried calling a place in Chicago, but again, no answer. Hmm! I see that breakfast is served at the Wendy's in Phoenix, AZ's Sky Harbor Airport, Terminal 2, starting at 5. Some Wendy's open at 5 am, some at 6, some at 7 . . . my local Wendy's opens at 10, some are open 24/7.
I tried their new Bacon Portabello Melt on Brioche the other day and was sorely disappointed. The bread was overcooked. The meat was dried out and there were hardly any mushrooms. What there was appeared to be teeny little chopped pieces of what would be called "seconds" in the canning industry. The sandwich cried out for some kind of sauce, but there didn't seem to be any. The orange cheese (American?) was exactly wrong for this sandwich; it really should have been Swiss cheese for a classic flavor.
