What are we missing here?

We have ISIS promising us that their flag will one day be flying over the Capital in Washington DC, as President Barack Obama tees-up for another round of golf. In a display of barbarism, the “Butchers of Islam” behead news reporter, James Foley, as a defiant gesture of rubbing their backwater-inbred-sense of religion in the nose of the American public, and Mr. Obama once again headed for the golf course telling us how upsetting the situation was, but not enough to effect his desire for the game of golf. Hey…I love golf as much as the next guy, but all this golf and he still hits like an old lady (sorry girls!).

We have a crisis involving thousands of illegal immigrant flooding our southern border and Mr. Obama goes fundraising where he is much more at home apparently, than running the White House. I guess it is easier to shakedown the Corporate American hierarchy with promises more and more “corporate welfare” to the tune of $30,000/plate for dinner than to take care of his Constitutionally mandated obligation to protect and defend America.

Most anyone with half a brain can see the liberal left of Entertainment American clamoring for such events, who by the way, donate far more to Democrat causes than Republican, because they view such events as just another “red carpet affair” at which to be seen. But the corporate fat cats attend only as a willing participant of being shaken down at the expense of their corporate fiefdoms, while hoping for a more abundant teat at which to suck taxpayer money and largess from the government.

Earlier this year after being told of The adventures of ISIS, Mr. Obama responded with, “The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant, and I think there is a distinction between the capacity and reach of a bin Laden and a network that is actively planning major terrorist plots against the homeland versus jihadists who are engaged in various local power struggles and disputes, often sectarian.” I think Mr. Obama, like he has shown in dealing with other major local and global developments is either naive beyond his years, dense, or God I hope I’m wrong, just plain stupid.

As a follower of politics, I find it incredulous that the President is completely disengaged from reality and is apparently unaware that holding the office of The President of the United States comes with a responsibility of being the leader of the free world and protectorate of freedom and liberty and at the same time being a beacon of prosperity for other countries to follow. Every event takes this man by surprise…whether it is the actions of the Justice Department (remember Fast and Furious, Benghazi, and voter intimidation at polling places), the IRS and Lois Lerner, and so many other issues which he reads about in the local newspapers.

When the public raises complaints that President Obama is spending too much time, not to mention taxpayer money as well, vacationing, his Keystone Cops advisory staff are swift to tell us he is always at the ready because of today’s communications and that “one call is all it takes” to get the president involved. Okay, Okay, let’s say all that is true and that Obama is never out of touch, I ask why do we even need an office for the president, you know the place we call the White House? Obama can just stay on the golf course sun-up to sun down every day, and we’ll call him when the bombs start going off. I mean after all, with a policy of “drawing a line in the sand; hurry up and wait; then do-nothing foreign policy” under which we are now operating, we probably don’t need him around for much of anything. The point here is that the golf course, Martha’s Vineyard, Hawaii, and other vacation destinations are NOT the same as being in the Oval Office running the country…let’s stop pretending it is!

The press may be getting wise to the diversionary practices this Administration has become so good at using to keep the heat off the President. It is always someone else’s fault when things go south…it is never the President’s fault…”why, he never was aware of anything but will make it his number one priority…sure…just ask a Veteran”. I do not believe Mr. Obama has any more room on his agenda for Number One Priorities…there’s at least a dozen there so far waiting for action.

I read a column this morning by Peter Baker of the New York Times which really puts things in perspective when viewing the political climate of today’s White House:

If the world seems troubled by all manner of calamities these days, President Obama does not want Americans to worry too much. After all, he said Friday, “The world has always been messy”; it is just more apparent because of social media. And, he added, today’s geopolitical threats are far less perilous than those of the Cold War.

Governing at a time of war, terrorism and disease, and frustrated on multiple fronts at once, Mr. Obama finds himself trying to buck up supporters heading into a crucial midterm election season. The succession of international crises has taken a toll on the public mood, not to mention his own poll ratings, and he seems intent on reassuring Americans that the challenges are manageable.”

…Mr. Baker went on to write… “Mr. Obama addressed that public apprehension directly, acknowledging that many Americans are feeling anxious about their country and its place in the world. The showdown with Russia over Ukraine, the emergence of a radical new Islamic caliphate in Syria and Iraq, and the rise of China have stirred unease about the future of the United States and if you watch the nightly news, it feels like the world is falling apart”

While Mr. Baker closed his article indicating Mr. Obama said Americans should remain calm and confident. “We will get through these challenging times just like we have in the past. This is not something that is comparable to the challenges we faced during the Cold War.” No…Mr. Obama is right about that…it is even more challenging because during the Cold War our enemy was clearly defined and located in basically one spot, and the country had real LEADERS like Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Reagan which we trusted to lead. Obama’s theory is to “lead from behind” and that’s downright malfeasance in office. To make matters even more troubling for Mr. Obama, today’s enemy is not clearly defined, or readily identifiable in civilian environments, and they do not comply with the rules of the Geneva Convention. Torture and barbarism is their code of conduct.

War is to be fought by soldiers, but ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hamas, and others driven by religious ideology more often than not target civilian women, children, and the elderly in their barbarism. The press continues to honor these cowards by calling them militants, while our Vice President, Joe Biden, talks about them as “radical extremists” or “radical fundamentalists” and the need to aggressively confront “violent extremism and radical ideologies.” They just don’t want to attach the words “Islamic” to those phrases, because I guess using the word “Islamic” is politically incorrect. It is like calling the shooting at Fort Hood, near Killeen, Texas by Maj. Nidal Hasan, who fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others, Workplace Violence instead of a terrorist attack which is what it was.

As a closing thought for thinking Americans, the mantra for the 2012 elections was that “Osama bin Laden is dead, General Motors is alive, and Al Qaeda is on the run”. A nice catchy phrase that seemed to work for the people who do not pay attention to anything outside their favorite daily television sitcoms or reality shows. Osama may have been killed and Al Qaeda may have appeared to have faded from view, but they were in no way “on the run”. And as for General Motors, they may still be alive but they are in the financial ICU according to ProPublica, the two-time Pulitzer Award recipient for excellence in journalism:

Ultimately, the bailout of GM seems likely to result in the TARP’s single biggest loss. But since the government still holds about a third of the company’s stock (currently worth about $10 billion), we don’t include it on our list of losers yet. It’s possible the government will sell the stock for more than it is currently worth, recouping more of its investment.

For the TARP, it depends on the biggest remaining investments: AIG and the remains of the auto bailout, GM and GMAC (now called Ally Financial). The net outstanding amount of those three companies together is about $61 billion. At this point, it seems likely that Treasury will ultimately recoup its bailout of AIG. The auto companies, on the other hand, seem likely to result in a loss approaching $20 billion, according to both Treasury Department and Congressional Budget Office estimates.

Selling GM stock for a premium price might have been possible before the tremendous number of recalls they have had to make in 2014.General Motors has issued a torrent of recalls in 2014, for problems ranging from unsecured floor mats to the ignition-switch defect linked to at least 13 deaths. These 54 separate recall campaigns affected as many as 26 million vehicles in the U.S. and have turned into a public-relations nightmare for the company, raising questions about GM’s management culture and its safety protocols. But a deep dive into the numbers suggests that they may represent something simpler: The law of averages catching up to America’s biggest auto manufacturer”.

You know…I just don’t feel so secure with those who are calling the shots from Washington today, either Democrat OR Republican. This has to be the year to take out the trash!
