The seven chakras, or energy centers, of the body
Istock:lovelens

The literal translation of the word chakra is wheel or vortex. There chakras are the seven major energy centers in the body. The chakras both pull energy in from the external environment and also release energy from the body outward. Each chakra energetically has an associated color, sound vibration, and physical organ/endocrine system. Many energy traditions believe our personal histories and life journys are recorded in the chakras.

Reiki and yoga open or clear the chakras, which balances the energy flow in the body and promotes relaxation and well-being.
