What are the best Charger match ups in 2014?

With Wednesday's unveiling of the 2014 NFL schedule, many San Diego Charger fans likely were eyeing up some of the team's toughest match ups this fall.

While meetings with AFC West rivals are never dull, the Bolts will have plenty to think about outside the division again this season. Meetings with Super Bowl champ Seattle, NFC runner-up San Francisco, along with perennial AFC powers New England and Baltimore highlight the schedule.

After their first playoff appearance last season in four years (lost at Denver), the Chargers increased the hopes of fans that things are on the uptick in San Diego. Given that both AFC champ Denver and talented Kansas City are expected to be in the hunt, and while the Oakland Raiders have been adding a number of new pieces to their arsenal in the off-season, the AFC West will likely be a dogfight in 2014.

Seahawks, Niners, Pats among toughest foes

So, with AFC West meetings versus 2013 playoff contenders Denver and Kansas City (four games in all) expected to be difficult, what awaits the Chargers outside the division is no easy matter either.

Yes, teams such as Jacksonville may look like automatic wins on the schedule, but as anyone in the NFL will attest to, any team can beat any other team on any given Sunday.

Among the biggest challenges for the Bolts outside the division in 2014, dates are set for games at Seattle, San Francisco and Baltimore, with a home match up versus Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in early December.

Will these games be blacked out?

Lastly, the Chargers have had some blackout issues in recent years when it comes to home dates.

In looking at the 2014 slate of home games, potential blackouts could be looming with Jacksonville, the New York Jets and St. Louis, though how those three teams are playing the week before their date with San Diego will go a long way in determining that.

When it comes to the 2014 schedule, which game or games are you most looking forward to seeing the Chargers in?
