The thirty-third-largest library in terms of print holdings is the Jacksonville Public Library. When I began this series, I ranked the Jacksonville Public Library (J.P.L.) in a tie for twenty-first place with the Cuyahoga County Public Library and the Broward County Public Library in Florida.

The statistics I had at hand showed collections of 2,600,000 books, 1,083 electronic books, 243,000 audio materials, and 3,229 print subscriptions. More detailed statistics show the J.P.L. has 2,597,753 books, 1,083 electronic books, 243,000 audio materials, 230,727 videos, and 3,229 print subscriptions.

As of May 26, 2014, the Jacksonville Public Library reported a collection of 2,721,642 volumes. It has one Main Library, four regional libraries, and sixteen branch libraries.

The thirty-fourth-largest public library in terms of print holdings is the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. Originally, I ranked the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library in twenty-third place in a tie with the Fresno County Public Library and the Saint Louis County Library.

The statistics I had on hand showed the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library had collections of 2,400,000 books, 1,725 electronic books, 144,000 audio materials, and 5,590 print subscriptions. More detailed statistics show collections of 2,381,011, 1,725 eBooks, 144,000 audio materials, 180,619 videos, and 5,590 print subscriptions.

As of April 16, 2014, it reported a collection of 2,513,188 volumes. It operates the Main Library in Toledo, the Art Tatum African American Resource Center, and eighteen branches.

The thirty-fifth-largest public library in terms of print holdings is the Milwaukee Public Library. When I began this series, I ranked the Milwaukee Public Library (M.P.L.) in twenty-fourth place in a tie with the Fairfax County Public Library.

The statistics I had on hand showed the M.P.L. had collections of 2,300,000 books and other print materials, 11,956 electronic books, 108,000 audio materials, and 5,440 print subscriptions. More detailed statistics show collections of 2,307,193 volumes and other print materials, 11,956 electronic books, 108,000 audio materials, 111,841 videos, and 5,440 print subscriptions.

As of May 26, 2014, it reported collections of 2,494,834 volumes. The M.P.L. has a stately Beaux-Arts-style Central Library and thirteen branches.

The thirty-sixth-largest public library in terms of print holdings is the Fairfax County Public Library, which is headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia. When I began this series, I ranked the Fairfax County Public Library in twenty-fourth place in a tie with the Milwaukee Public Library.

As of April 29, 2014, it reported a collection of 2,460,395 volumes. Library Administration is in Suite 324 of the Fairfax County Government Center.

It also has the Fairfax County Archives & Records Management Branch; the Accesses Services Branch, which is in Suite 123 of the Fairfax County Government Center; eight regional libraries; and fifteen branches.

The thirty-seventh-largest public library in terms of print holdings is the Dayton Metro Library. I ranked it in twenty-ninth place in a tie with the Harris County Public Library in Houston, Texas; the Hennepin County Library in Minnetonka, Minnesota; and the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh.

The statistics I had on hand for the Dayton Metro Library (D.M.L.) showed collections of 1,800,000 books, 1,466 electronic books, 144,000 audio materials, and 2,912 print subscriptions. More detailed statistics show collections of 1.754,587 volumes and other print materials, 1,466 electronic books, 141,686 videos, 144,000 audio materials, and 2,912 print subscriptions.

As of June 5, 2014, it reported a collection of 2,298,000 volumes. It has a Main Library and twenty branches.

The thirty-eighth-largest public library Denver Public Library. Originally, I ranked the Denver Public Library in twenty-seventh place in a tie with the Seattle Public Library and the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative in Tampa, Florida.

The statistics I had on hand showed collections of 2,000,000 books, 23,382 electronic books, 150,000 audio books, and 5,384 print subscriptions. More detailed statistics show collections of 2,027,350 volumes and other print materials, 23,382 eBooks, 150,000 audio books, 235,860 videos, and 5,384 print subscriptions.

As of April 30, 2014, it reported a collection of 2,288,842 volumes. It has one Central Library in downtown Denver, the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library, and twenty-four branches.

The thirty-ninth-largest public library is the Saint Louis County Library. The statistics I had on hand for the Saint Louis County Library showed collections of 2,400,000 books, no electronic books, 124,000 audio materials, and 6,276 print subscriptions. Detailed though dated statistics show collections of 2,372,278 volumes and other print materials, no eBooks, 124,956 audio materials, 103,744 videos, and 6,276 print subscriptions.

As of May 1, 2014, it reported a collection of 2,062,482 volumes. A political subdivision of the State of Missouri, it operates the St. Louis County Library Headquarters in St. Louis and nineteen branches, nine of which are also located in St. Louis.

The fortieth-largest public library is the Fresno County Public Library. The statistics I had on hand showed collections of 2,400,000 books, 276 electronic books, 107,000 audio materials, and 1,864 print subscriptions.

More detailed statistics show collections of 2,387,263 volumes and other print materials, 276 electronic books, 107,000 audio materials, and 1,864 print subscriptions. As of May 7, 2014, it reported a collection of 2,233,842 volumes. The Fresno County Public Library operates the Central Resource Library and thirty-four branches.
