WFTS-TV has named Ashley Glass as its new co-anchor for its ABC Action News weekend Saturday and Sunday broadcasts. She is currently the station’s weekday morning reporter and fill-in anchor and has been with WFTS since 2010. Ashley Glass joins fellow anchors John Thomas and Bill Logan.
“Ashley is the perfect fit for these newscasts”, said ABC Action News Director Doug Culver. “She’s a skilled reporter able to keep everyone informed during breaking news events and she also has that warmth and energy you want when waking up on a weekend morning to make plans for the day.”
Ashley Glass grew up in Orange Park, Florida outside of Jacksonville. She attended the University of Florida and earned a pair of degrees, one in News Broadcasting and the other in Political Science. While in college, she worked at the campus television and radio stations as a news reporter/anchor and weather forecaster.
Before coming to WFTS-TV in Tampa Bay, Ashley Glass worked at WCJB-TV in Gainesville, WICS-TV/FOX 55/27 in Springfield, IL and WPEC-TV/FOX 29 in West Palm Beach. Since March 2010, she has been a reporter and fill-in anchor on WFTS-TV’s “Action News” in the morning 5 to 7 a.m. slot and on various newscasts throughout the day.
“I feel truly blessed to have this job. There is never a dull moment,” Ashley said on the station’s website. “I meet interesting people each and every day on the job and get to witness events that make our community tick. So many stories stand out to me as favorites that it's tough to pick. A few I will never forget: anchoring the day now President Barack Obama announced his presidential candidacy on the steps of the Old State Capitol in Springfield, IL, chasing wild weather from tornadoes in Illinois to hurricanes in Florida, flying at almost supersonic speeds with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the final night launch of Space Shuttle Discovery.”
