(Tampa Bay, FL) Sending out good thoughts and prayers to WFTS-TV News Anchor Linda Hurtado who shared with viewers her recent diagnosis of breast cancer on Tuesday’s broadcast. She will be undergoing surgery Wednesday. Here is what Linda said during the 5:00 p.m. newscast:
“Tonight I have some very personal news to share with you. I've spent my whole adult life in fear of getting breast cancer. I watched the disease ravage my beautiful mother. So when I was diagnosed with breast cancer about two weeks ago, it literally brought me to my knees. I've struggled since then with what I should say to all of you, how much to share, if anything at all. But there are big billboards of me all over Tampa Bay that say ‘watch me at 5’ and now I'm going to be gone for awhile. I'm the health reporter and it is breast cancer awareness month. Over the last 17 years, I've asked many of you to share your truth with me, so I can't just disappear without sharing mine with you…”

Bill O’Reilly is teaming up with comedian and syndicated radio talk show host Dennis Miller for a series of shows billed as the “Bolder and Fresher” tour with stops scheduled at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, the Landmark Theatre in Richmond, Virginia, the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California.
O’Reilly brought his “Bolder and Fresher Tour” to Tampa’s Sun Dome a few years ago for two sellout shows. No doubt with the Republican Convention coming to Tampa next year, O’Reilly and Miller will strongly consider putting the bay area on their schedule sometime during 2012.
Dennis Miller is a regular contributor to Bill O’Reilly’s “Factor” program on FOX News each Wednesday. Miller’s radio show is aired locally on WWBA 820 AM and WSRQ 106.9 FM/1220 AM in Sarasota.
Rosie O’Donnell who started her new talk show on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN cable channel Monday is off to a weak start in the ratings. OWN has had trouble building any kind of audience and O’Donnell’s debut show pulled in less than 500,000 viewers. Sirius XM announced it will air “The Rosie Show” the day after it airs on OWN at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm on its Stars channel.
Once known as a relatively funny and likeable stand-up comedienne, O’Donnell has become a controversial and often times boorish broadcast personality particularly when she was one of the co-hosts on “The View”. Hard to figure how Oprah would think Rosie would bring in big numbers on the struggling cable network.
