Wetsuit dash kicks off Chicago triathlon season

If you're a triathlete who needed a reason to call off work for the day, or skip out early, this was it. If you passed by Millennium Park on Friday, June 15, and saw several people wearing wetsuits, this was it. If you were wondering why wetsuit-clad runners were heading from the Bean to Ohio Street Beach and swimming along the shoreline, this was it. The Life Time Chicago Triathlon might not be happening until August 26, but Chicago was showing its excitement for the race--and celebrating its 30th season while providing tips--in a wetsuit run and swim to kick off the season.

Part of the race's clinic series (look for more of these events throughout the summer, which you can read about on the Chicago Triathlon's Facebook page), this wetsuit dash offered an open-water swim tip session at Ohio Street Beach followed by socializing at Park Grill Plaza. Triathletes had to run--or jog or walk--from where they were briefed at Park Grill Plaza in Millennium Park to the beach. A perfect practice session for the Chicago tri where triathletes have to run roughly a quarter mile from the swim exit to the transition area.
