The 2013 joint scientific meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists South Atlantic Chapter (SWSSAC), Florida Association of Environmental Soil Scientists (FAESS), and Southwest Chapter of the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals (SWFAEP) will be held at the Embassy Suites in Tampa on October 6-9, 2013.
A wetland is a land area that is saturated with water, either permanently or seasonally consisting of hydric soils which supports aquatic plants.
“We are very excited about the diversity of opportunities our conference provides” said Matthew Miller, Chair of Southwest Chapter of the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals and event co-organizer.
The four day event will highlight the connections between wetlands, soil science, wildlife, the environment and regulatory decision making. The primary purpose of the workshop is the exchange of information and to connect scientists and others.
The conference will include three keynote speakers, contributed oral presentations in concurrent sessions, a poster session with student awards, chapter and society business meetings, a student luncheon, social functions, soils and plant identification workshop, and field trips.
“Our field trips highlight some very impressive wetland restoration projects and our two day program features presentations that appeal to technical scientists, policy makers, regulators, lawyers and anyone else with an interest in wetlands”, added Miller.
