You knew this was bound to happen soon or later, a wet Summer weekend. The type of weekend that would be best at the movies or at a museum than at the beach. Well, we got all the way into August before having such a weekend, which really is pretty impressive.
An area of low pressure along the Southeast coast will lift northeast through the New Jersey coastal waters this evening through tomorrow morning. Clouds will increase through the day today. This evening showers will develop from south to north, becoming widespread after 8 PM this evening. The rain will be heavy at times, especially along the coast and will continue through tomorrow afternoon. Showers will linger on through Sunday although more widely scattered by the evening. Rainfall amounts through Sunday will range from a half an inch to an inch over western New Jersey and one inch to two inches with localized amounts up to three inches over eastern New Jersey. The further east you are, the more likely you'll have steady rainfall on Saturday, which is basically focused on poor beach weather. Winds will back from the south to the southeast tonight at 5 to 10 mph then to the east for tomorrow, and northeast on Sunday. Temperatures will remain below normal once again through the weekend. Temperatures this afternoon will rise into the lower to mid 80's for highs. Temperatures on Saturday will range from the mid 60's for lows and mid to upper 70's for highs. Temperatures on Sunday will range from the lower to mid 60's for lows and upper 70's to lower 80's for highs.
Showers will linger on Monday with overcast skies as the cold front boundary slowly departs to the east. Winds will back to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60's for lows and lower to mid 80's for highs.
High pressure will be in control for Tuesday and Wednesday with scattered clouds and seasonable temperatures. A cold front will approach on Thursday with increasing clouds and scattered showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60's for lows and lower to mid 80's for highs.
