Wet conditions add difficulty to the Kansas Senior Series

The Kansas Golf Association Senior Series played their next to the last regular match on Tuesday September 2 at the Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kan. The course is an 18-hole par 70 ranging in distance from 4,858 yards to 6,510 yards with slope ratings of 125 to 140. Extremely wet conditions from overnight rains added to the difficulty of the course. No players were able to post gross scoring under par.

In the Overall Flight gross scoring Michael Carey of Shawnee Mission, Kan. finished in first place at two over par. One stroke back was Mike Grosdidier of Lawrence, Kan. and in third place was Council Grove, Kan. resident Tim Tyner at five over. Net play resulted in Chris Luck of Oskaloosa, Kan. finishing in first place with an adjusted score of four under par.

Bel Aire, Kan. resident Loren Keely finished in first place of the 50-54 Flight gross scoring with a nine over par 79. Kerry Kruger of Topeka, Kan. finished in second at 12 over par and Jeff Holmes of Leawood, Kan. finished in third at 14 over par. Keely remained in first place in net play with an adjusted score of one under par.

Gross scoring of the 55 to 59 Flight ended with Mike Grosdidier in first at three over par, Tim Tyner in second at five over par, and Bob Hartmann of Shawnee, Kan. tied with Peter Robbins of Olathe, Kan. for third place at seven over par. Eddie Rodgers of Topeka, Kan. moved to first place in net scoring with an adjusted score of three over par.

Jay Warren of Garden City, Kan. finished at 10 over par to take first place in the 60 to 64 Flight and one stroke back was Pat Goeke of Paola, Kan. for second. Third place resulted in a three way tie between Doug Kaup of Phillipsburg, Kan., Bob McKinney of Olathe, Kan., and Chris Davis from Lawrence, Kan. at 13 over par. With an adjusted score of one over par, Warden remained in first place in the net scoring.

At two over par, Overall first place finisher Michael Carey took first place in the 65 to 69 Flight gross scoring. Second place went to Duane Creekmore from Wichita, Kan. at seven over par. Rob Gleissner of Olathe, Kan. and Steve Stockham of Saint George, Kan. finished tied for third place at eight over par. Chris Luck finished at four under par in net scoring for first place.

The 70 and Over Flight gross scoring resulted in David Anderson from Manhattan, Kan. finishing in first place at nine over par. Osborne, Kan. resident Ron Kaser finished in second at 17 over par and third place went to Jim Deines of Hill City, Kan. at 20 over par. Olathe, Kan. resident Ron Elliott finished in first place in net scoring with an adjusted score of even par.

The Kansas Senior Series tees it up at Meadowbrook Country Club in Prairie Village, Kan. on Wednesday September 3 for the last regular season tournament.
