Westside YMCA triathlon this weekend benefits Save-A-Life Program

This Saturday at the Westside YMCA in Knoxville, Tennessee, the fifth annual Y Tri triathlon will take place. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. It will feature a 200 yard swim, 12k bicycling in the neighborhood, and 4k West Hills Greenway run. Proceeds from the event will go to the “Save a Life” program.

The 200 yard swim begins with one person at a time. Each subsequent swimmer begins swimming every five seconds; continuing back and forth until they have reached 200 yards. This event begins with the fastest swimmers.

The 12k bike race takes place in the West Hills neighborhood. This challenging event includes hills and goes on for two laps. Knoxville police will control traffic for the safety of the participants.

The smooth 4k takes place in the shade on the West Hills Greenway.

Contestants must pick up their packets at the Health Shoppe on 8025 Kingston Pike on Friday between 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Shahin Hadin will conduct a beginner clinic at the YMCA.
