According to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport website, the University of Western Mustangs will play the University of Alberta Golden Bears in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport national men's volleyball championship on Saturday night at Jack Simpson Gymnasium in Calgary.
On Friday night, the Mustangs, who were seeded sixth in the eight team tournament, defeated the second ranked University of McMaster Mauraders 25-23, 17-25, 30-28, 25-20 to advance to the national championship for the first time in the school history. Garret May led the Mustangs with 21 kills.
The Golden Bears meanwhile defeated the University of Laval Rouge et Or 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23.
The championship game will take place at 6:00 p.m. this evening and can only be seen on the internet, at the site, www.cis-sic.tv.
In the CIS national women's volleyball championship this weekend in Regina, the University of Manitoba will be playing the University of Dalhousie in one semi-final today, while the University of British Columbia will play the University of Laval in the other semi-final. The winners will play in the championship final on Sunday.
