More than 2,500 fans turned up at Lawson Arena Friday night to supports their Broncos in a showdown against Ohio State. But it wasn't enough to help Western Michigan get past a tough Buckeye squad, as they lost 3-1.
Ohio State's Zac Dalpe and Patrick Schafer scored first-period goals to set the tone for the game. Western Michigan's Max Campbell gave his team hope, scoring a third-period goal to bring the Broncos within reach. But shortly thereafter, Dalpe put the game out of reach with his second goal.
The teams will meet again on Saturday in Kalamazoo.
