The vineyards in Litchfield Hills and Fairfield County have organized a series of events to celebrate the late summer harvests in Connecticut, from wine and food pairings to harvest festivals to cooking classes.
This coming Friday from 3:30 to 6:30, Jones Family Farm in Shelton is displaying its old and new tractors during its Farmers' Market. On September 13 the farm offers one of its Rustic Dinner on the Terrace Sip and Savor cooking classes, with a light hearted educational session pairing foods and wine. Their chef prepares a farm-style family supper with four wine tastings and includes a discussion with the wine educator, a Jones farmer, and their chef. The September 13 class/dinner is a Tuscan Tastes event featuring sauteed veal cutlet with lemon, sweet potato gnocchi, seasonal Jones-grown vegetables and biscotti. The next class will be a "Dine on the Rhine" class that will feature pork loin with sauteed butternut squash and black forest cake. Classes are $65 per class. Contact www.litchfieldhills.com.
