The Western Aikido Association will hold its Spring Gasshuku this month. This year the guest Sensei will be Koichi Barrish Sensei, whom I’ve featured here before. He and Robert Frager Sensei,* 7th dan Aikikai will include weapons training on both Saturday and Sunday.

The workshop will be held at the ITP/Sofia University dojo located at 1069 E. Meadow, Palo Alto, CA 94303. There is abundant parking next to the dojo.

For many of you in the Greater Bay Area, this will be the first opportunity you will have had to experience Koichi Barrish Sensei. Besides being deeply rooted in the Aikido of O Sensei, Barrish Sensei is Shinto Priest. He is the first American to obtain this rare and sacred honor. He is the Chief Priest at the Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America, located near Seattle, WA.

The training schedule is as follows:

Please bring your enthusiasm, training spirit and of course, your weapons.

See you there!

* Frager Sensei is a direct student of O Sensei’s and no doubt a couple of O Sensei stories or remissness’s will occur during the course of the workshop.
