Daylight savings time has arrived, and if you are like me, you are looking forward to shaking off the winter and welcoming spring. Already the sunny evenings are a little a longer as the calendar creeps to summer, and it’s time to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
I played a round at Westchester Golf Course the other day, and the course is in fine shape. When the course was restored to its original 18-hole track a few years ago, a general clean up of the existing fairways got under way, and the entire course is a joy to play. The challenging greens are as good as you will find anywhere in Southern California. The course offers plenty of specials too. For the first time in eight years, The Westchester Pool will be heated when it reopens this summer. Built in 1960, the newly renovated pool and Aquatic Center, is a great place to get your kids swimming lessons, and to cool them off when the warm days come again. For info see

I am very familiar with Sam Choy’s; it being an offshoot of the amazingly successful Honolulu-BLC (Breakfast, Lunch and Crab) and Kona (Kai Lanai), Hawaii, legendary restaurants.
LMU grad and Westchester local, Rudy Garciduenas; who avid sports fans might remember as the former Equipment Manager for the Los Angeles Lakers manages the Pineapple Express.
