Westbrook Brewing Company (Mount Pleasant, South Carolina) has announced that they will release both Bearded Farmer: Taylor and Citrus Ninja Exchange this week. Both beers will initially be available at the brewery and in the South Carolina market, but Alabama beer lovers can expect to see these offerings in the very near future.
Bearded Farmer: Taylor is the fourth installment in Westbrook's Bearded Farmer lineup, a series of Saisons that have been brewed with slight to major variation of the last installment. This version has been named after one Bradley Taylor of Revival Foods and LJ Woods Farm. Here is the label description to give you the rundown on this new brew:
Taylor is the fourth installment in our "Bearded Farmer" series of saisons. In keeping with the farmhouse brewing tradition, the idea here is to brew each successive beer a little (or a lot) differently than the ones before it.
Taylor is brewed with a large percentage of rye and wheat malts, moderately hopped with Tettnanger and Pride of Ringwood hops, and fermented with a blend of farmhouse saison and brettanomyces yeasts.
Taylor will debut this Saturday (September 7) in 750ml bottles and on draft at Westbrook's Meat Beer Fire LOCAL event, and it should hit distribution in the days following. We have seen all the previous installments of Bearded Farmer in the past, so expect to see this one turning up on Alabama shelves soon.
Next up and releasing today (September 5) is fan favorite Citrus Ninja Exchange. This big, 9% Double India Pale Ale is a collaboration between Westbrook Brewing and The Charleston Beer Exchange. Thanks to both citrus-centric hops and additions of citrus fruits during the brewing process, Citrus Ninja Exchange packs a delightful punch. The label description reads as the following:
Our favorite Double IPAs are all about big citrus flavors, so with our Westbrook collaboration we wanted to pack as much grapefruity, hoppy goodness in there as possible to further bolster the hop profile. The addition of fresh grapefruit zest took the labor intensiveness of this beer to another level but we think it was worth it and hope you do too!
Scott, Rich, and the Westbrook crew
The first keg of this year's Citrus Ninja Exchange was tapped earlier today in Westbrook's taproom, and 22 oz. bottles and kegs will hit South Carolina distribution by September 10. We were lucky enough to land bottles of Citrus Ninja Exchange last year during the week the Gourmet Bottle Bill went into effect. It was a surprise hit with area beer lovers, and they should be excited to know that we will be seeing it again in limited quantities in a couple of weeks or so.
Past releases of Bearded Farmer and Citrus Ninja Exchange have been stellar, and you can expect more of the same this time around. These beers will be available where you normally find Westbrook offerings in Alabama, and believe me when I say that you are going to want to keep an eye out for them. Prost!
