The goons at Westboro Baptist Church are at it again; their hate and vitriol are manifest by threatening to picket and protest Ronnie James Dio’s memorial service in Los Angeles today, May 30. Ronnie James Dio died on May 16, 2010 from stomach cancer. He sang with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and many other metal bands.

Dio is highly regarded as the strongest voice in the Metal genre, and his career spanned several decades earning him accolades and a huge following. His public memorial is a celebration of Dio’s life and music as well as a fund raiser for his charities.

The Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas detests homosexuals, and have protested many funerals of gay soldiers who church members claim are not worthy of Military honors. In the case of Ronnie James Dio, they claim he was a Satan worshipper and in a statement released Thursday, May 20, the church said that Dio used his status and platform to “teach rebellion against God, in the form of glorifying Atheism, promoting the devil hand sign and other such idolatries.” The church’s statement also said that, “the arrogant God-hating fool changed his name from Padavona to Dio, which means god in Italian.”

Apparently the church is supplanting God in judging Dio. Their statement also said that “God’s promises are true, including his promise to punish the wicked forever.” So if God is going to punish Ronnie James Dio forever; why does the church feel the need to picket and protest?

They protest because they are whack-jobs who believe they are little Gods themselves by doing the judging they claim is God’s job. It is how hypocrites operate. They are really only punishing the family members who are grieving, which is apparently their goal. Punishing grieving people is what the good Baptists do instead of offering comfort to the survivors.

Ronnie James Dio’s memorial service will be held today at The Hall of Liberty on Forest Lawn Drive at 2 pm, and is open to all fans. Dio’s wife and manager requests that in lieu of flowers, fans should donate to Dio’s “Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund” by sending donations to: Niji Entertainment Group, 12400 Ventura Blvd #624, Studio City, CA 91604, USA.
