The Westboro Baptist Church says the flu epidemic is well deserved because of our sins. Twitter account WBCSays posted on Jan. 9 that the flu is proof that America is not blessed and just cursed.
The comment was in regards to the reported deaths of at least five patients in Illinois alone from the flu. Hospitals are having a difficult time keeping up with all of these cases. According to a Jan. 8 NBC report, over 150 patients have been admitted to the intensive care unit with the flu in Illinois.
However, Illinois isn’t the only state seeing high numbers of flu victims. Widespread flu epidemics were reported in 41 states during the week ending Dec. 29 with 29 states indicating high levels of flu outbreak.
The Westboro Baptist Church is quick to blame anything unpleasant on America’s sins. The WBC especially hates homosexuals and even went as far as to blame Carrie Underwood’s support of gay marriage for the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
It is no surprise they have added the influenza virus to their list of ways God is punishing us.
