Civil War buffs can tour the nine regions of the state without leaving the warmth of their homes as the state of West Virginia, Division of Tourism has produced a series of Civil War videos.
The videos, produced for the state by Moon and Stars Productions of Clarksburg, WV and directed by Lemuel B. Muniz, provide a brief glimpse of areas featured in the state’s popular Civil War Trails program.
The programing include some of the state’s events that had a much broader national significance, such as the John Brown raid of Harpers Ferry, the importance of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (it crossed 200 miles of the state and 14 counties) and finally the formation of the state of West Virginia, literally “born out of the Civil War”.
All are part of the state’s commemoration of the Sesquicentennial and the state’s 150th birthday (it officially became the 35th state on June 20, 1863).
So grab a hot chocolate and sit back to enjoy the state’s Civil War videos.
