Information on all aspects of travel in state will be showcased at the annual West Virginia Governor’s Conference on Tourism to be hosted on October 28, 29, and 30 by the Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, WV. Tourism officials from across the Mountain State will be on hand to discuss the state of tourism in West Virginia.
This year’s theme for the conference will be “Celebrating the Great Outdoors”.
On the proposed conference agenda are reports from the West Virginia Division of Tourism regarding state matching grants and marketing, travel industry speakers, and results of recent industry research involving trends in WV travel. An awards banquet, meeting with members of the West Virginia legislature and the celebration of “wild and wonderful West Virginia” are other highlights of the traditional event.
Additional conference information is available by calling Jane Bostic of the West Virginia Division of Tourism at 304-558-2200. The registration form is available at the website link in the first paragraph of this article.
Many of the travel veterans will remember a similar event held at Canaan Valley Resort in September 2001 where the West Virginia Governor’s Conference attendees huddled together and ended up watching the unbelievable events happening in New York on television as the September 11 terrorist attacks unfolded.
