West Texas Endurance is set to host their second annual Willie McCool Memorial Half Marathon Saturday, April 5th at the Silent Wings Museum. The event will also include a 5k and 10k race. Willie McCool was a Lubbock native who piloted the Space Shuttle Columbia.
The half marathon will begin at 8am with a 4-hour course time limit. The 5k and 10k both begin at 8:15am. Price for these races (through March 30th) are $50 for the half marathon, $30 for the 10k, $25 for the 5k, $20 for 10k runners 12 and under and $15 for 5k runners 12 and under. Registrations received before March 25th are guaranteed a short-sleeve race t-shirt.
Packet pickup will occur at Cardinals Sports Center on Thursday, April 3rd from 5pm to 7pm and Friday, April 4th from 4pm to 6pm. Race day registration will occur onsite on from 6:15am to 7:30am.
These flat courses are great for first-timers and those looking to PR. The event itself is a great family-friendly environment for both runners and spectators.
