Christopher L. Gibson was arrested on Tuesday and now faces animal cruelty charges after locking a stray dog in a small cage in front of his West Palm Beach home and leaving the animal to languish in the heat of the day before the dog collapsed and died reported the

Gibson, 33, was reported to authorities by one of his neighbors who allegedly witnessed the pit bull breed dog left out in the midday sun in the extremely hot month of September. The dog panted heavily, and reportedly fell over and died.

Later that day, Gibson buried the dog in his yard.

Upon an investigation into the dog's death, Gibson told authorities the emaciated dog had wandered onto his property, and Gibson had hoped to find the owner of the dog.

And why didn't Gibson call Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control to take the dog into the county rescue? Gibson told authorities he didn't want the dog euthanized.

Rest in peace poor innocent pooch.
