Grand Rapids-based Bethany Christian Services is scheduled to unite 54 Haitian orphans with their families on Thursday. The families will meet their children in Miami after they arrive from Haiti.

Representatives from Bethany report the children were matched with the families prior to the Earthquake. The quick response is due to the US Embassy in Haiti, who granted visas for the children to come to the US sooner than originally planned. Usually, families have to take two trips to Haiti before their adoption is finalized.

According to WOOD-TV, 14 of the children arriving in Miami will be placed with families in West Michigan.

According to the Bethany News Feed, representatives report, "This is unprecedented in the world of International Adoptions, where children are being flown out of the country to complete their adoptions."

The children are scheduled to arrive in Miami at 9:40 on Thursday evening.
