Keeki Pure and Simple has teamed up with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a coalition effort to protect the health of consumers and workers within the cosmetics and personal care product industry. Ingredient safety regulation in the cosmetic industry is nearly nonexistent, which has created a cause for concern.
The existing law (the Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act of 1938) gives cosmetic companies full control over what ingredients they use in their products. This self-regulation has allowed nationally recognized brands to include ingredients in their products that are associated with causing health issues such as hormone disrupters in fragrance, lead in lipstick and formaldehyde in nail polish. New advances in science are proving that repeated uses of products with low-doses of toxic chemicals is linked to multiple health risks, which is why the elimination of even the smallest amounts of hazardous ingredients has become a necessity.
The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics “Champion” companies are highlighted in their full report, Market Shift, and recognized for putting the consumer’s health first. These “Champion” companies hope to lead the industry by example demonstrating full transparency and disclosure of ingredients and using only ingredients that are proven to be safe.
Keeki Pure and Simple’s mission has always been to create products that consumers can trust in such a deceptive industry. Natalie Bauss, a Michigan mom of two, founded the company in 2009 with her daughter’s health in mind. What started as a kitchen experiment on Bauss’ organic farm in Lowell, MI, has exploded into an international company in just two years.
Keeki Pure and Simple is most well known for their unique line of non-toxic nail polish, offered in a rainbow variety of colors. Keeki’s odorless polishes are made with a 100% biodegradable ingredients and absolutely does not contain any formaldehyde, phthalates, parabens or toluene.
