San Jose, CA (December 18) -- West Med College, part of the National University School Systems, graduated yesterday 38 nursing students at the Stanta Clara Convention Center, according to its University President Dr. Charles Powell.
Powell, a former social worker, acknowledged the students' willingness to work and untiring dedication in pursuing the nursing profession.
He likewise stressed, in his commencement adddress, the ability to be professional and to be able to connect with their patients and staff, to pursue a successful nursing practice.
This is in addition to the virtues of being caring, giving hope to the patients, and being kind, Powell added.
Jeff Mendez spoke in behalf of the graduates. The graduates are led by Mary Rose Estioko, who received three academic awards.

Amelia Hammett, Sahar Khaliqi, Emily Lagula, Ramil Lagula, Jonathan Langdon, Alyssa Longoria, Kristina Meltzer, Xochitl Mercado, Christina Montano, Erika Nacar, Chuan Chin Nguyen,
Vincent Petrino, Navdeep Sandhu, Dindo Santella, Mark Shaffer, Sydnie Smith, Anna Tad-o, Gianina Tamisin, Yanely Toral, Maria Umali, Edith VillaBruno, Katherine Weese, Katie Wells, and Maura Zambrano.
After the presentation of the graduates, pinning ceremonies and the recitation of the Florence Nightingale Pledge followed. The close-to- hour-long ceremonies was attended by parents, friends, and close relatives of the graduates.
