The 42nd Annual West Indian-American Carnival culminates with a large parade on Labor Day. This year on Monday September 7th watch as West Indian Americans from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Haiti and all over wave flags, blow whistles and fly streamers. Over 70 floats line Utica Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Flatbush, Brooklyn. An afternoon packed with performances and the delicious aroma of Caribbean dishes including curry goat/chicken, jerk chicken/pork, roti, pelau, stewed ox-tails, fried fish and pepper pot can become overwhelming. Bystanders are advised to get there early.
