Every year West Denver Trout Unlimited picks a day to perform a river clean-up day on Clear Creek and this year is no different as Sept. 7 is the chosen date. However, WDTU needs your help to make the event a success. A call for volunteers has been made and yes there is even a free meal on the table to say thank you for your hard work.
WDTU will focus clean-up efforts on the stretch of the river roughly between Mayhem Gulch and the junction/intersection of Routes 6 and 119. Helping the chapter with the event, the Colorado Department
of Transportation is providing orange safety vests and trash bags.
"We’ll kick off about 9 a.m. and after we finish, our Chapter will have a cookout at the parking lot of the Mt. Gateway Center, located at the junction of I-70 and exit 243 (Central City Parkway)," said WDTU predisent Jon Weimer. " All volunteers will enjoy all the hot dogs, brats and hamburgers they can eat, and all the coffee and soft drinks they can consume to compensate for their hard work."
The chapter needs volunteers to make this event a success. If you think you may interested in helping out and/or want more information, please call Jackie Edwards at (303) 278-2282. Join the fun folks who are already planning on attending such as some Colorado School of Mines students and members of the Women’s Fly Fishers organization. The more volunteers, the more creek gets cleaned!
