We know that Boston is a tech city, but did you know a mere 6 percent of CEOs of the top tech companies are women? As much progress Boston has made as a tech hub and scholarly city, when it comes to educating and employing women in the STEM fields, there is still a significant gender gap.

March is thrilled to provide pro-bono PR support for WEST, a local organization that aims to solve this problem by empowering women to achieve their highest potential and pursue careers in the science and technology industries.

WEST announced this week the organization’s first ever endowment, STEP UP. This four-year funding campaign urges the community to join the conversation and empower women in the tech industry.

“The end goal of the STEP UP Fundraising Campaign is to help as many women as possible by cultivating an entrepreneurial attitude and skill set,” says Sandra Glucksmann, WEST Board Chair.

“This skill set development and entrepreneurial spirit will not only enable women to start new ventures, but will also teach them to be innovative and be change agents within their own companies. In order to accomplish the fundraising goals, we need everyone to step up and engage in this endeavor.”

WEST has created opportunities for women by encouraging success and providing tools for leadership. The local organization has over 500 members and hopes to increase funds to further networking opportunities, workshops, career insight and support for women in the STEM fields.

March is honored to work with such a great organization such as WEST and we’re excited to be a part of the STEP UP campaign.
